Default Tighten parking brake cable

Can you tighten the parking brake cable by yourself or is that something that the dealer should do? If you can then how do you do it? Thanks much

actually, tightening the cable is pretty simple. I am not exactly sure of the correct procedure on the mustang, but in the simplest form it involves tightening a joint that is in the rear of the car. It is best the have the haynes manual, it should give detailed instructions

The adjustment is just below the E-brake under your Mustang's tunnel.

Rule of thumb is:

Raise E-brake handle 3-4 clicks, raise rear wheels and place safety stands, adjust cable until you hear a slight drag on rear brakes as wheels are turned. Lower E-brake handle and check to make sure rear brakes are not dragging. Lower rear wheels and your done.

It is pretty simple!

Just incase you didn't know, Ford had a recall on the parking brake on some mustangs because it wouldn't hold the car on a hill (I'm guessing manual transmissions only, but could be automatic also.) I would find out quick if your car has been recalled because before I took mine in, the car rolled out into the middle of a street on a steep driveway.

the recall is for manuals only. still have not taken mine in. don't trust anyone working on my car that is in a hurry. I'll let them do it if they don't have to mess with my tranny.

I didn't know this. What years? Mine BARLEY stays on the hill in 1st. It WILL roll out if not in gear.
