Can anyone tell me what a C4 transmission is, and why it's so popular for drag racing? Is it an automatic?

a C4 is a small, 3 speed auto, and is popular because it is small, light, and there are a ton of aftermarket parts. It will not bolt up to a 4.6

i think performance automatic has a bell to bolt it to a 4.6 sfi approved even.
