Default electric fan relay wiring

I have to rewire my fan because the relay blew. I just got this car a couple weeks ago and the guy who had it before me eliminated the a/c. He had the fan wired so when you turn the the a/c-vent blower on, the electric fan would turn on. I was wondering, can I just run a toggle switch under my dash and use the wiring scheme I attached....... thanks for looking!!

I just realized i didn't put a power wire going to the switch. Could i splice into the fusible link wire coming off the battery?

I am getting ready to install an electric fan also. I an going to wire the hot lead directly to battery with a fuse, and on/off switch in between. The only problem is that this way you have to remember to turn the fan on everytime you start the car. In your case you are using a relay, which i assume you are tying into your fuse block to be hot with key on, and you will not need an on/off switch. Good luck.

mine was hooked up to blower motor before so when i turned the heat/ac on, the fan would come on. But instead i just ran it from the ignition wire with a fusible link then through the relay to the fan. All is well, except for the fact that i need a new battery.......yellow top, here i come.

you can get a thermostate control at auto zone made for controling fans its around 20 bucks it has a prob that slides between fins in radiator ( this is how it keeps track of temp like a sending unit) its fully adjustable from like 160 to 260 or somethin like that.. and it wires right up to fan and 1 power lead..... could use a relay with this if ur running a high amprage fan(s)....

Now I'm dealing with another issue. I just posted a new thread but figured id ask on this one too. My ALT fuse keeps blowing. When i change the fuse it doesn't blow right away. But if i take it for a ride and give it a little gas, my battery gauge drops down to N and the fuse pops. Also, my check engine light and Air Bag light keeping comeing on and off. I did read somewhere that when your fuel pump is about to poop out, that it will draw an extra charge. Could this be causing the fuses blowing? I will check over the alternator wireing tonight to make sure its not grounding out.
