[RyderJ's 92GT]

Yesterday my car started making a weird chirping noise while i was driving. Immediately i thought it was the belts until i popped the hood and realized it sounded like it was coming from somewhere near my intake manifold. It does it while idling but gets worse as the throttle power increases until about 3500 rpms. Any ideas what it may be??

I had that same thing, turns out it was a rod bearing that had spun. Hope that isn't your problem too. I'd check out the intake gaskets first, I've some split too and make more of a whistling sound, and it was at idle. Rev it and it'd go away till the engine slowed down, then it'd be back. But when the bearing spun, it was real annoying and did the same thing you describe, and then when it finally went, it changed from a chirp to a clank. It sounded like it was coming from the intake and is what threw me off as to what it was.

are you sure its not coming from the belt tensioner.

Well, yesterday i was cleaning my MAF and decided to investigate a little further...so i cleaned out the whole intake from beginning to end. I also changed the oil yesterday as well, all before driving it and now the sound is gone. Im not sure where it was really coming from or what the problem was, but its gone now....thanks for the good info though.
