Would this make a good motor to replace my old bb or is 460 to much?

You can never have too much displacement as long as the rest of the driveline, suspension, etc. are built to handle the extra torque. You may find that the RV cam does not give you the punch expected from a 460 but that's easy enough to remedy.

If your 71 is set up for the big block and you have confidence in the builder I'd say go for it!
