Default Annoying Beeping Sound

Hi all,
I am new here so apoligies right off the bat. I saw this same title somewhere on this site and can no longer find it, nor, do I know exactly where to post this message, but I need help.
All of a sudden (96 GT) that dinging that the vehicle makes when you leave your key in the ignition but stops once you either start it or take the key out, no longer stops! What could be purely coincidental is this started right after I had a new convertible top put on. It's enough to drive you crazy. Someone said something about a light being out (?) on the panel. Whatever the suggests if you wouldn't mind walking me thru whatever steps I might try, I would really appreciate it.

check fuse #6 15amp and fuse #15 10Amp.

if you don't care to have it chime anytime you can remove the Warning Chime module(WCM). note, your seat belt warning light will not come on anymore.

check the Ignition Key Warning Switch. will send ground signal to the WCM(Bk/Pk wire terminal 5 on WCM) if you have ground with key out then switch is bad.

WCM - behind center of I/P, RH side of radio.

Ign Key Warning - part of ignition lock cylinder

could be just a bad wire coming out of a connector inside the steering column... that's what it was on my 88 LX. I just unplugged it, and all was well. Just dont forget your lights or keys!
