Default Water leaking underneath

I know what everyone is thinking, condensation from Air conditioner, and I'm hoping the same thing, but here is the situation. I start up my car, the air conditioner is still on from yesterday, after about 1 minute I switch from Air conditioning to defrost and turn the heat up a bit. I then drive 40 minutes to work. Just before I get to work I run over a good size chunk of a blown out tire on the highway (believe me it was unavoidable). When I get to work, I notice a pretty good drip coming from underneath the back of the engine a bit closer to the passenger side. I could see it from the passenger side wheel well. I checked the fluid, it is water. Could this be from my Air conditioner even though it was only on a minute? Or could using the the defrost have the same effect? If not any suggestions? Thanks

First off all, you should not leave the A/C on when you turn your car off. And b, when you turn your defrost on, your A/C compressor also kicks on. So it's possible that it is just condensation, especially if it was a humid day. Hopefully nothing is damaged. Good luck.

On modern cars, when the defrost is on, the ac kicks in too...hence why the ac compressor kicks in. Keep an eye on it and see what happens, but it does sound like water condensation form the ac. Good luck.

Tell us what year and model you have and I will move your question to a more proper forum to get more accurate answers to your question.

First, welcome to the forums... Agree with the others. If the defrost was on, the A/C was too. If in doubt, check the fluid. If it's any lubricant or antifreeze it will feel slippery between your fingers.

A/C operates when the defroster is on so as long as there's no damage from the tire, you shouldn't have a problem.
