Default 2007 Mustang GT shift boot heat

Maybe someone can help me here. I'm 53 and an old sixty cars guy who used to own a body shop. Owned over 80 cars to date but this is my first Mustang. GREAT car. With 1400 miles on it there is a problem with way excessive heat coming from console and especially shifter boot after driving 20 minutes or so . This is NOT normal on any car, and my friends with 2005 and 2007 GT's have absolutely NO heat. It is honestly as if you turned on the heater it is so bad. I have had many HP cars and I realize that a warm cockpit sometimes goes with the territory but this is way beyond that. Anyone with similar problems and any solutions? I want some kind of idea before I go to my local dealership and have the service manager roll his eyes and make circles with his index finger around his head at me! Thanks

I have the same problem with a '99 GT that I just purchased with 56K miles - Anyone have any ideas?

have them check the tranny fluid, it might be low causing more friction therefor causing heat.

also, maybe the cats are running too hot because of an engine problem.

just a couple thoughts why it could get hot.

Interesting. My next door neighbor who is crew chief for Newman-Haas racing mentioned trans fluid first thing when I told him the problem. He has a 2005 stick with no heat problem. I also thought the cats, but why some and not others? I have experience working with dealerships years ago and just KNOW they will blow me off on this heat issue. Wish a tech out there would chime in.

Remove the shifter boot and the primary boot that keeps the crap out of the cockpit probably was installed sideways allowing heat in. My son works at the dealer and they have had this happen on the new body cars. Sometimes he said that one of the corners is folded under and they just left it and went on with the interior install. Check your carpet also under the console because they have had wet carpet and jute starting to mold because of water splashing up.

Great suggestion. Went to dealer today, spoke with tech & made appt. for next Tuesday. Will mention what you said. Seems very logical to me. I'll cross my fingers.
