when I come to a stop and sometimes the idle goes up and down but only sometimes i've cleaned maf sensor , and reset the computor may there's another sensor to clean
Hi folks... having similar issue with my 94 Reo Red Cobra... irratic idle... had it into a shop... they said bad (magnetized distributor) and bad PCM... changed both... no change... tested and/or swapped IAC, EGR, O2 sensors, 40psi fuel... bought my own testing tool and my ASE certified buddy ran the tests and found the 2 and 3 cylinders in the firing order ( physical 3 and 7 across from each other) failed the balance test... 150psi compression warm... plug on 3 clean, 2 and 4 were carboned (running rich?)... prior owner was drug dealer... car hit curb (bent 2 rims) when DEA was chasing him and it stopped running... still have one O2 sensor reading 0... changed lower O2 harness... still no change... we plan to pull the intake and replace the upper harness (injector/O2) next... any other ideas???...
Thanks,
Michael

I've got a '89 5.0 mustang LX, manual transmision 5 speed, CHP package, i had it die on me while diving, 1st and second were ok at first, go to hit 3rd gear and theres nothing there. I pulled over and the car would not start again. After some replacing a badly looking distributor cap and rotor, it turned out the coil and coil wire were badly corroded, I replaced the coil and wire, it started , however, ever since then the car is having a problem idling. Sometimes it has a very strong consistant idle and other times it has a very bad idle, surges between 200ish to 750ish and other times it will not idle at all, seams to get worse when trying to back up. Any idea what would cause the sporatic idle problems? I have replaced the plugs and wires. Could it be a throttle position sensor or what?
