Can I put a one speed fan in a car that has a 2 speed?
Ok, this isnt a mustang, but my sister has a pt cruiser and it has a 2 speed fan. the low speed turns on when it reaches a certain temp and the high speed turns on and stays on when the A/C is on. The fan went bad and I have been pricing them from diferent places and they are all around $300. She really doesnt have any money for it so i have pretty much decided to just take the fan out of the center of the shroud and bolt in a universal fan from summit in its place. The summit fan is like $80 and flows a lot more air than stock. Now to get to the real question, since the plug on the original fan has 3 wires, one for the low speed +, one for the high speed +, and the third is the ground. And the plug on this new fan is only 2 wires, one + and one ground. Can I cut the harness off the old fan, that has 2 positives, splice them both to the postive on the fan which would theoretically make the fan turn on both when the a/c is on and when the engine reaches that right temp. and obviously wire the ground to the ground.
I know this is long and confusing but I couldnt think of any other way to describe what I am trying to do. Thanks for taking your time to read this, i just want to make sure this wont cause any problems by wiring it this way. I dont think it will but id rather get some other opinions before I go ahead and do it.

Just in case anyone is interested, I took the motor and blade out of the new fan and mounted them into the original shroud. I wired the 2 positives to the positive on the motor and it works great. Turns on when the ac is on and turns on when it gets hot. You cant even tell its not the original fan.
