I'm a little confused as to what you mean by "offset between main journals and rod journals"
Primarily, you would need a set of micrometers to mearsure the width of a crank journal or a rod journal. Then you would need a set of T- squares( the correct name slips my mind right now) to measure the inside diameter of a set of main bearings and or rod bearings. Using some math skills subtract the two to obtain a clearance number.
A easier way but not really as accurate, but prettly close is to buy some plasti- guage. It looks like a piece of string at first. You apply a same section to the journal, install the bearings and torque down. Remove bearing and by using the supplied guage on the side of the plasti-guage set, select one the matches the same thickness of your reading to the one on the paper guage and read the clearance. |
