What is a toploader?

Please educate me, I have read a lot in here about top loader 4 and 5 speed transmissions. What does the term toploader mean?

well, since you know, and didnt bother to tell others, I guess I will have to....FREE POST!!!!!

A top loader is just that, all of the internals load through the top, unlike the T10 of the era that loaded through the side

Sorry, I thought I was the only dimwit in the bunch. According to the site I visited (forgot the name, but easy to find, do a search for toploader on yahoo) the top loader is a much stronger tranny that the side loader.
