2005-2007 front end clunk I'm brand new - probably one of your more "senior" members. I'm on my third Mustang. Started with a 1969 Mach 1, then a 1988 4 cyl, and now a 2006 GT that I've had for a little over a year. I think I may have just turned over 4,000 miles on the odometer.
I love the car. Looks great, highway handling is superb, and it sounds great (although Flowmasters may be in its future). My one problem with the car is one that I've seen many similar complaints on the internet. Since brank new, there is an annoying "clunk" under highway speeds coming from the front end when rolling over even the smallest bumps. It can even be heard backing out of my garage going over a 1 inch drop to the driveway.
I've done all the right things Ford suggests. I've returned to the dealer and spoke to the owner (love small town dealerships), the service manager, had them test drive the car, etc., before I went online and complained to Ford corporate. Corporate arranged a second inspection at the dealer who acknowledged they heard the noise but couldn't find the cause. They even let me test drive a brand new 2007 GT and it too had the clunk, though not quite as exagerated as mine. The bottom line is that corporate (central region customer service) told me that their engineers say the noise is normal. I disagree. Common yes, normal no. I then asked what part of the car is making this "normal" noise. I would get it repaired at my expense. No response other than Ford will no longer talk to me about this and future inquiries must be through the dealer.
Can anyone help me with this? It takes away from what is an otherwise fun driving experience. |
