Default If I could fix this one damn thing....

I can sell my car. And get a truck.

Here's my problem. I'm about to sell the stang and pick up something more.. practical?

Any way, the odometer is broken. No big deal right?

My car only has about 40,000 miles on it tops. Yeah, a 1998 mustang with 40,000 miles. Thing is, the odometer is stuck at 33,000.

If your buying a 10 year old car from a kid, and he says "Oh it broke like 5 months ago, the millage is real" even though the car looks great your still not going to believe him are you?

So basically I can show them some paper work that says like "2005, 25,000 miles" from like oil changes and stuff or I can fix it. I've been quoted crazy prices to get the thing replaced. I checked into it two months ago and I want to say ford quoted me some thing like $2-300 just for the part and another $1-200 in labor ( keep in mind thats like 10% of what my cars worth lol).

I got my oil changed today, and the guy said there "store mechanic" would be working tomorrow and he would know how to fix it. Lol? Maybe if he can just get it turning again I can sell it real quick.

I'm not sure if you use a speedo cable or if you have the electronic type of speedo, but if you have a cable, its probably broken. It shouldn't be hard to replace.

If a cable is used, disconnect it from the trans and mount an electric drill to the cable and advance the mileage to where you think it needs to be. I know it is against the law to tamper with a speedo, but if you're advancing the mileage, how could that be frowned on.

your speedo is electric.

pull the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) out of the tranny and check the teeth on the sensor and in the tranny.

I uh went over to ford.

They wanted a good chunk of change to fix it ( whatever its just money :P )

Thing is... your not allowed to drive your car while they ship in for the parts, so I wouldn't have a car for 7-10 DAYS.

Thats kinda rough.
