how many miles are on your car and do you have anything done to it? how long has this been going on? be a little bit more specific.

generally black smoke is not a horrible thing. however, that does not mean you should not worry about it... the tricky part is to figure out whether it's oil or fuel. fuel burns black and has a sharp smell to it and oil smells... different... almost kinda sweet i suppose is the best word to describe it.

like i said though... give more info on the car

Default Black Smoke

Normally black smoke indicates the mixture is way too rich. Does the smoke stop when the engine warms up or does it continue all the time? If it clears up then the cold start enrichment is set incorrectly and the dealer can adjust that. If the smoke continues all the time then the fuel table is set incorrectly or the Mass air may be malfunctioning all of which can be adjusted by a tuner or the dealer in your area

have you thought about maybe checking WHY you have a CEL for the MAF. If the MAF is bad, or has inproper reference signals, the car will run extremely rich.

Could it be worn valve seals or guides allowing some oil to escape into the combustion chamber and upon initial startup it blows it out? I have seen this happen in old chevy's but not sure about the fords.

Um, receipt for what? I hope you're not allowing some fvcktard at Autozone to diagnose your car?

Get the MAF figured out. It needs to be properly diagnosed as to WHY it's setting a CEL. It is more than likely the cause of your problem, and running around dumping excess fuel in the cylinders is NOT a good thing. Your rings will be shot from fuel wash.

No, it wouldn't. If a valve seal was bad, an oil change would do nothing. You would need to replace the seals, or the guides if they are excessively worn.

If it was the above problem, it generally creates a blue cloud of smoke on startup.
