Default Average Cost of 3:55 Gear Installation?

What would the average price be for installation on 3.55 gears....

also how much would gas mileage go down if i switch from 2.73 to 3.55?

thanks

2-3 MPG depending on your driving style and HWY. U will see the least mileage on the HWY. If u have a mechanic put them in u are looking at 250-450 or more depending on the quality of the shop u go to.

About 3 months ago I switched from the stock 3.27's in my '00GT to 3.55's. My mileage INCREASED by about 5mpg. I used to go about 289 miles on a tank of gas. I now get 338 miles per tank(13gallon). MY style of driving did not change. With the 3.55's I find it easier to stay in the torque curve of the engine than it would with the 3.27's, increasing the mileage.

I think I paid about $180.00 for the gears, $70.00 for a new Trac-Lock assembly and $16.00 for the install kit. I went with Motive brand gears and have absolutely no issues, ie... no noise, gear whine etc....

I installed them myself so I didn't pay any labor, but I would expect a shop to charge somewhere aroung $200.00 for the install.

Best bang for the buck that you can do.

Thanks thats the best and simplest answer ive heard to a question...

Do Ford dealerships usually do this, and do you always need a trac-lock assembly?

thanks once again.

Ford dealerships do it but you usually end up paying more.. and a tlok is not necessarily needed but recommended, especially if you are going to have the gears swapped out you can probably get a discount on labor for installing the tlok since your already in there...
