I have a 2002 Mustang and in when it is cold it doesn't want to stay idled when I start it. If I keep my foot on the gas for 10-15 minutes it will kick in and idle. Has anyone had this problem?

Never had this problem on my 2002.

approx how many RPM's is it at? Because when you cold start your car, it idle's a little higher to get the engine warmer quicker.

Oh wait, maybe not. A stuck EGR lets you idle cold but not warm. AHHHH now I'm all confused.

Check your IAC (Idle Air Control) or MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensors, they may be dirty causing poor idle quality. If they're gummed up, then I would use some brake cleaner to clean them out, just be careful with the brake cleaner, it will eat away at paint on the car or irritate your skin if you get it on yourself.

Good call- forgot about that.

But they sell MAFM Cleaner at most auto parts stores- it's not as harsh as brake cleaner.

true, but, I like to get multi-usage out of my stuff

Then just buy Heavy Duty Engine Cleaner and use it on everything.

Just be careful with plastic and wires.

Or just go with nature and use water. But don't be surprised if things stop working.

YERR DUMB.

I have heavy duty engine cleaner I'm using it on the intake manifolds I have, works well and it's getting all the gunk off!

Can't wait to paint the upper intake, gonna look good

No it doesn't. When you first start a car, it runs in open-loop, which sets teh PCM to run in a fixed fuel and spark table. We set open loop fuel trims to run rich as a safety precaution, and to do so we have to raise the engine idle RPM and load.
