Default 1987 Mustang No fuel pressure

I hear the pump hum with key on, but no pressure at the rails. Does anyone know if a pump can fail but still do the priming hum for certain? Every one I have seen died completely. I assume the relay is good if I hear the pump, bypassed the inertia swith and checked for 12 volts on the inertia harness. Disconnected battery to reset computer. No help.

Don't have a code scanner...

Could also be the fuel regulator.

Replaced pump, screen and filter. Got 38 psi at the inlet to the rails now but no start. Seems lean, but don't have a way to test regulator return. Vacuum line on regulator dry and no fuel but maybe stuck open/closed?.

Any suggestions?

OK, when it rains.....

Replaced regulator and I now have good pressure at the rails. Now I have no spark. I connected an old plug from a plug wire and then the coil and got nothing. What are the odds of a regulator and coil going out at the same time!!!

I am looking over the schematics now to see if I left anything unplugged from troubleshooting the first problem or if there is something else that could have failed.

The fule pump was easier to replace than the regulator! Nobody at Ford thought of mounting up front?
