Default egr valve code =

ok i have the egr valve codes (two) as 401 and 422.....something about the canister that holds the vapors has a leak....and something else...
any advice here? i do get a wiff of gas when i shut the car off after ive driven it ... for those just reading...i have a 2001 stang...V6....
any advice ?

Code 401 is for insufficient EGR flow. I would check, clean and verify that your EGR valve is not stuck closed. I'd also check the vacuum lines going to it.

Lastly, it could be your DPFE sensor (open circuit), which is a common problem on these cars.

ok ill check egr valve...i heard that 3m injection cleaner is a good one to use... any thoughts about that?

Just remove the EGR and clean it with brake cleaner. Then test it with a vacuum gauge for proper working condition. If it checks out, I'd look into the DPFE sensor. It's a very common Ford problem.
