Default Usinc Components from a 70's 302 on an 80s 5.0

hello a friend has a 81 mustang. now i was told it has a 72 or around that year 302 in it and he went out and bought a 85 5.0 and being told it is a ho 5.0 but not sure . my question is will the distributor and intake water pump and pulleys and flex plate off the 70's ish work on the newer 5.0 ? originally it had a 6 cylinder in it and some one put the 302 in it. thanks kelly he wanted me to do a engine swap for him and it seems like every time he wants to do some thing it is all ways the hard way .

I think you will have more luck over in the general tech.

I am goign to move it there in hopes of getting more exposure.

Well this ain't gonna be an exception if it's a 5.0 and its got a normal 302 in it now. It's not that hard but it could be simpler.

You need to find out for sure what year the motor is (check the block casting number) before we can tell you what you'll need. Also look and see if it has a roller cam because you'll need a distributor to match it.

The intake will work for sure, so will the timing cover and water pump, but the pullies might not line up because the 5.0L balancer looks like it sticks out farther
