Default 2000 fan control not working

Hey everyone

my sister has a 2000 Mustang v6 and her fan control only works on the third and fourth highest settings. the rest of the hvac controls all work fine, but she really wants to be able to use to lower fan settings. what might be causing this? I've never worked on a mustang before so any help would be really appreciated. thanks in advance!

Sounds like the rheostat is gong bad. My dad had that same problem with a 97' Contour years ago. Take the fan controls out, and you should be able to just replace it from the back of the HVAC panel. Good luck

Sounds like the blower motor resistor.I've seen it a lot on other cars working in Ford dealerships. It is located under the dash on the passenger side.If you get the new one(about 10 or 15 bucks just about anywhere)you'll be ale to recognize it.It's only 2 bolts and a plug.Should only take about 20 minutes and a lot of cussing to replace it.
