I was in Ohio and a guy there has a 4x4 truck he is parting out I went to go look at it and it had a 351 HO engine in it. I looked unmolested still had the factory 4 barrel holly carb and looked all stock. It was a 1978 with 78,000 original miles on it I heard it run and it ran smooth and sounded great. The guy swore the motor came in the truck. He said he wanted $350 for the engine it seamed like a good deal but I didn't have any use for it so I passed. But I can't keep from thinking about it. Was this unusual to find a HO motor in a 78 truck?
And would this be desirable engine?

If it's an original 1978 351, it's rather weak. Try to find out if it's the actual original engine, and if not find out what year. There was no H.O. 351 in 1978, they only had 144 hp @3200 rpm and 2 barrel carbs. Don't let this guy snow you. $350 is an ok price for just the engine, just know it's a good starting point but not if it's stock. No 1978 351 engine came with a 4 barrel carb, regardless of application.
