Question Average installation fee for rear end gears?

ok, so i know this might be a dumb question, but, i have to ask. the place i am getting my 3.73:1 gears installed says that they charge $300 for a gears:straight axle, and $600 for gears:IRS.. are my gears the straight axle ones or the IRS? and what is IRS?

You have a straight axle. The IRS came on the 99 01 03 04 cobras. My install cost me 200 when I brought the gears and the oil. It's going to vary shop by shop.

I got fortunate to know a few guys around me that love cars as much as i do. i was charged $125 plus I had to help them so I could learn how to do them. Your best bet is to go around (or call around) and price everybody, but you also want to remember, cheap labor equals cheap work...
