Im not an expert on v-6 motors but i know that those can be very VERY fast cars with the right parts. if it were mine, i would start with the following...
k&n fender mount cold air filter kit, under drive pulleys, dual exhaust with 40 series flowmasters, exhaust headers, smog pump delete kit (if equipped with one), bigger throttle body, throttle body spacer, different gears (3.73 seems to work wonders for everyone, not sure how it would work out for you with the v-6), again not sure if you can do msd ignition on this car but that would help out alot, hypertech performance chip, then if you really felt like it and wanted to spend about $1,600 bucks then some new heads and a nice intake manifold.
all that stuff i mentioned before the heads and intake should run you close to about $2,000 bucks. But if you want to make that car fast start doing it, one piece at a time. Just make sure you enjoy every dollar of it (laugh out loud). Merry Christmas, and dont forget to check out my posts. I have a good one that will benefit everybody.

TO: Ricers- 1) there's no replacement for displacement 2) my lug nuts require more torque than your engine makes 3) a light car doesn't excuse a weak engine 4) a bottle of pepsi has more liters than your car. Eating rice builds muscle!

Half of the stuff you mentioned does not do anything for the V6's......
I had a couple of v6 thunderbirds, same 3.8,old school tricks work wonders on these engines.See your local machine shop about port matching your upper and lower intake manifolds. Also removing the factory powder coat off of the upper and polishing it on the outside lowers air temp a little(not to mention it looks purty too).
bolt ons I've seen available are few,but if you read about us with the 5.0's and 4.6's,they are all the basics we've done.I.E.throttle body, underdrive pulleys, cold air kit, ignition wires, spark plugs, etc.Check the mustangs unlimited website and also brothers perfomance. Both carry a nice selection of v6 bolt ons.

the ones that i bolded you should look into.. everything else they recomended doesnt really do anything for a v6.. if anything i say you also look into a split port swap for your car
