Default upper plenum and throttle body

I've been going back and forth with tech support from Summit racing in e mail about adding a Trickflow upper plenum and 70MM throttle body to my 1997 gt.Their tech support doesn't recommend douing these things until I upgrade my mass air flow sensor.I don't think that my mass ai would have any effect on this upgrade, any thoughts?

They're pretty much right, you won't see the maximum benefit until you get the larger MAS. The intake tract is limited by the smallest diameter part, between the throttle body, inlet elbow, and the MAS. You can get just the two and add the MAS later if you want and not have any ill effects other than not getting the full improvement.

I'm looking for a quicker throttle response out of this upgrade,I have later plans for bigger injectors and recalibrating the maf when the budget(or wife)allows

Putting a bigger air inlet will not give you quicker throttle response, it will give less response.
The whole air in , air out thing has to be working together. Putting 4 inch exhaust on a 4 cylinder just don't work. unless you put a blower on the other end.
In order for a bigger throttle body to work, ( like you wish) you also need a compatible mass air flow sensor and then injectors to feed the increased demand, and compatible heads to meet the demand, and compatible exhaust.
Look at it as if it were a carburetor engine. a 302 with a 2bbl carb. Just by putting a 850 4 bbl carb on the engine is not going to give better throttle response.

Installed plenum and t.b. this weekend.Uh,throttle response is better, and much more pull from 1500-4000 r.p.m..P.s. exhaust even gained some more rumble.

I say they are full of it and you don't need a new MAF. A naturally aspirated car probably never needs anything other than the stock MAF.

The MAF simply measure air flow or volume of air. It is NOT a restriction on your car until you are making MUCH more hp....such as with a SC or turbo. MAF kits that re-utilize the existing MAF electronics are simply devices that trick your car into running more lean...thus more power. But, it is a crap shoot and most cars will run too lean especially as you add more mods.

I'm definitely enjoying the difference in acceleration and torque.I actually ahve to give props to Summit Rcing Equipment,Their branded t.b. is nice($159.95)and a lot cheaper than all the others.I figure that every body is just to used to 5.0's having a smaller maf.At 80mm,the potential before having to change it is a long way down the road.
