Default Southern New England Spring Cruise • Sunday May 18

On Sunday May 18 the Blue Oval Mustang Club will be cruising the back roads of Northeastern Connecticut to enjoy the abundant scenery and twisty roads. We will be exploring some of Connecticut’s most gorgeous spring sites! The majority of our trip will take us cruising down state scenic roads, exploring the hills and lowlands of the northeastern vineyards and farms. There will be views of nostalgic New England farmhouses, tranquil ponds, brooks, and streams, and of course -- lots of nice, open road for cruising. We will also be awarding three “Best in cruise” trophies for the cleanest and most unique Mustangs at this event.

Our itinerary includes two highlight stops. Our first will be a brief stop at one of Connecticut's smallest Ford dealerships, they have a unique show room decorated with everything Mustang in the nostalgic center of Eastford, CT.

We will then proceed to drive on the next part of the cruise for a late afternoon lunch break to The Vanilla Bean Café in historic Pomfret, CT. The Vanilla Bean Café has received numerous accolades and awards from food reviewers and prestigious publications such as The New York Times and the Boston Globe. They offer sandwiches, wraps, soups, and a variety of entrees. They also sell local sodas and delicious desserts, for which they have also received awards. For the vegetarians: Vanilla Bean has been voted the "Best Vegetarian" in the area. Their food is well-seasoned, fresh, and prepared to be absolutely delicious by their chefs. The offerings at the Vanilla Bean are sure to please. You can check out their menu at www.thevanillabeancafe.com.

We will be meeting at Ultimate Edge Performance for 11:00 AM on Sunday May 18 (www.ueperformance.com for directions). Please email us at blueovalclub@aol.com if you plan to attend so we can create a head count for the event. The rain date is the following Sunday May 25.

It is our pleasure to announce that this cruise will benefit The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp. We will be raising toys and supplies off their "wish list." These items are very important to the camp and to the children who attend the camp. If you wish to participate please choose something off of the wish list and bring it with you on Sunday May 18. The wish list can be found at http://www.holeinthewallgang.org/help/wish.asp. For more information about The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp visit their web site at http://www.holeinthewallgang.org/.

It is a ton of fun!!

On our last cruise we had 25 cars despite the weather and how early in the season the cruise was held (many of our members had yet to take their cars out of winter storage). The last cruise was a blast and featured many great scenic views, fun roads and sweet Stangs. It is worth noting that several participants thanked the BOMC staff for putting together such a quality route that truly allowed everyone to enjoy the handling and overall driving experience of their Mustangs. I know personally I do what I can to make the events fun and memorable for our members and guests. I invite you to come along and have a good time. Below are links to pictures from our last ride.
