Hi,
Can't believe there aren't any replies, but so many people I know are yearning for the old days when I think the good old day are yet to come. Yes, I am in my 50s and I grew up driving muscle cars that could lay a patch of rubber the length of a city block with over 400 HP.
So..... what I want? I simply want Ford to do this - MASS PRODUCE the cars that Roush, Saleen, Shelby and others are making so they are more affordable. In 2003-2004, Ford made the HOTTEST MUSTANG EVER... the supercharged 03-04 COBRAs. Those cars are holding their value better then any other Mustangs made in the past decade. Right now the only place you can get a comparable Mustang is in the After Market and in a price range that even white collar professionals trying to pay for house, gasoline and a family simply CANNOT AFFORD.
I want a Twin Screw Supercharged 400+ HP Mustang GT that cost $30,000 - $40,000 and right now NOBODY is making Mustangs in that price range or horsepower range. You can either buy Fords versions for $20-30K or after market cars that are $40-100K and even the one's that are supposed to be in the low $40s are marked up by dealers to more like $50K.
So, right now we have three choices 1) build up our own Mustang as a project, 2) buy a used 03-04 COBRA, and 3) fork out a lot of cash $$$$ for an after market car which is going to have monthly payments rivaling a home mortgage.
I have written to Fordvehicles.com and Ford is going the other direction running with their tail between their legs due to high gas prices. Maybe, I am a rare species, but just another baby boomer who wants back what we once had, only better technology. Potentially, the best is yet to come in Muscle Cars and Ford is committed to not play the game if the online rumors are true.
Steve
PS - as you can see from my signature file, since I can't afford the aftermarket and Ford refuses to satisfy the high end Mustang consumers, I am doing what a lot of my friends are doing = do-it-yourself power upgrades, etc.
