I noticed in your post that you had a 88 mustang 2.3L, I have just broken the timing belt on mine. We replaced it but I cannot find how to line up the marks on the gears (I am far from experienced). If you could suggest where I might find info (preferably with pictures) I could sure use the help. Thanks, Steve
Well if the weather holds out I will be there. If we have rain...maybe not. Hopefully we will get a couple hours of sunshine. Hope everyone has a safe trip to Brantford! See you there!

Well, they were calling for rain earlier today but now I see they're just saying cloudy now for Sunday. If that's the case, I will be there for 12 noon.
put your timing belt cover back on and run the crank till the groove in the pulley lines up with 0 degrees on the timing marks. then pull #1 spark plug and stick a screwdriver in the hole making sure that the piston is at top dead centre(there are 2 tdc's one wont line up with the timing marks on the crank) then take the distibutor cap off and spin the timing sprocket for the distributor to make the rotor line up with #1 cylinder wire(the cap should be marked with a 1 so make sure the #1 plug wire is on that position) then line up the cam gear (marked with an arrow) downwards to the plastic 3 lined marker. position the arrow one notch to the right of the middle marker. when your done tightning the belt remember you must loosen your distributor and re time the engine using a timing light. also if you notice a high loss in power or acceleration, you may have to move the belt a tooth forward or back because the cam marker is plastic it isn't very accurate.
1) top sprocket -cam
2)right sprocket-distributor
3)bottom sprocket-crank
i have no pic's online but if you pick up a haynes manual from canadian tire,it'll be in there. hope this helps.ps if this car is a 1991 or newer its different cause of dis ignition.

seeing's how we only get 4 people at a time to show up were going to postpone ALL meeting untill next year so everyone can relax till the snow is gone.also i will plan the next one a month in advance so everyone can attend. so this is the time to get all the stang owners you can find and get them on here so we can see how this group will do. also i have plans for summer to have a barbaque for all members so i need to know if my backyard is big enough. lets plan ahead people.
Sounds good to me if we can get enough people to make it worth while. Hopefully we can get the street filled with more "stangs" for next year. And by the way, thanks for your effort in trying to get this thing of the ground.
Hey guys I will be back and forth to Toronto during Nov and Dec. Was hoping to hook up with some of you guys at the next meeting. Good chance I will be in Toronto first of the new year as well. Maybe I can make the next meeting. Have you selected a date yet for the next meeting?

I think they're going to wait until spring of next year for a meet. I thought I would reply to you since this forum seems to be kinda of dead lately. Never seems to be anyone here most of the time.
yes, we are going to postpone all meets unless 4 or more people really want to have another, my car will be out untill the first snow fall, then the 87 notch 4 banger will be driven, so it's always stang drivin' for me year round. plus to add to prior ideas, if the morerator reads this i would like them to add southern ontario or southern canada to the regions so we are better found. if anyone agrees with me put up your hand.
i'll be interested in comin out in the spring. thats the only fun i have in the summer is goin to car shows and swap meets hehe. brantfords not to far from st. catharines. the gf will probably freak since i drag her to every swap in the area and this will just be more good times for her lol. can't wait for spring and getting the 99 back out on the road.

hehe moved back in with my parents a while ago and when i got the 99 they freaked cuz that made 4/5 cars in their driveway so i kinda promised to sell one. i have been killing myself doing the floors and frames and 1/4's on the 70, and my winter car, a 240sx, can't go and my dad likes the 99 so i had to kinda tell them i'd get rid of the 68 after i get the cleveland outta it, and i had ought my gf's old car for a winter beater but just sold it, buuuuuut i decided i can't part with the 68 since i think its killer so i gotta change my signature thing lol i forgot i'm kinda slow at doing things. and theyre not pressuring me to much anymore cuz i have the 99 in my neighbors garage for the winter, and hers is gone. thanks for reminding me to change that.

my girl wants a '68, that's why i was asking..
i'll have a boo around come spring and see what i can find....just so long as it has a really clean body i'm not to worried about anything else
i like the body style too but mine is all patched on the 1/4's, floors, frames along with some very rough wiring in the engine comp. its kinda rough but was certifiable just not finished so it looks nice. i think i'll end up doing the same to it as the mach so i guess it is a project lol. lots nicer out there thats for sure. good luck hunting, the good thing is theres lots of parts eh lol neat cars.
