Talking 460 engine FELL INTO MY LAP .

hi everyone,
i have the chance to get a 460 engine out of a truck { free] i am wondering if this would fit in my 89 gt , i am also wondering if i rebuild it are these engines work horses or will it go fast. dont want to dump a lot of money into it ,,thinking tear it down, see if all is ok just rebuild with a port job, something on that road.
question is ,,,is this engine worth the work or will my 5.0 run faster ??

Heads, Intake and Cam=500HP. or, put a Vortech supercharger on it and go for ****. seriously, Jegs has an easy swap kit to put said engine in a fox. and they do make big power, little cash, but have fun keeping a transmission in it.

if you like a lot power and torque.then the 460 is your motor. i have a 460 in my 81 capri. i started the same way you are and it was in the low 11ets with a c4 trans and a 4.33 gear. to day its a litte differant.it runs a 9.97 on motor and 9.09 on the nos. as far as the swap,i was pretty por then so i made my own stuff. i found engine mounts from a bronco with a big block worked best and i used the gas ax and welder to fab my own body mounts. if moneys not a problem go with the tubed k member its the poo. watch out for the power brake booster . i had to get rid of mine. i used roller rockers and tall v-covers it hit the booster.

Umm...besides being about $30k more than a 460, a Boss9 motor is wider thanks to the heads, so none of that really matters...it'd look cool tho.

A buddy of mine made 573hp on 94 octane out of a 460 with ported D0VE heads, 11:1 compression, VicJR intake, and headers, and a custom cam. He swapped the cam a while back and it makes a little more power, but he hasn't dyno'ed it like this yet. We're thinking about building him a short tunnelram, from what I've seen, it'll make about 640hp and be just as streetable as it was before, it drives great as it is and the cam isn't really that big. Only thing is, with a tunnel ram and the new cam, we wont be able to sneak it into the street stock classes

These 460s are cheap HP, as long as you have some early heads like the D0VEs.

street car = small tire + stock like susp.

there are alot of events that dont allow big tire or a 4 link susp.

but tubed out cars look sick from behind! lol
