Has anyone used a sct or the like tune with a whipple? Should i get one? Just add that on top of the ford tune I already have?

I have the Whipple intercooled SC and love it. The software Whipple has(or Ford Racing) makes great power and is safe. I was plenty rich under high boost conditions, this means there is probably some more power hiding in there but detonation should not be a problem. I fixed a cutomers Shelby GTH that put on the same blower as I have with a custome tune. The "guru" that did the tune had this thing jacked. Whipple helped us out with programming his computer with their mapping, now the MIL light is off and the customer has a car that runs smooth and pulls hard. We were so impressed with Whipple we became a dealer.

so you tuned it on a dyno with the sct? i was wondering about these shops that sell a sct pre burned with their custom tune for the whipple. sound like a gimmmick? cuz my shop wants like a grand for a custom dyno tune.

Most of the canned FI tunes are pretty well tested and safe. Kenne Bell does it, so do a lot of others. Granted, a dyno tune is best.

ok maybe ill get one cuz more power for like 300 bucks sounds good to me. which tuner should I go for? what is it gonna enable me to tune?

The tune is built for you. You'll only be able to make adjustments to timing and WOT tuning. But with FI, not something that you'd really want to mess with without a wideband and experience doing street tuning.
