what do you guys think the best turbo kits and superchargers have been?
what have you guys installed?
i'm thinking about putting one in my car and i want some second opinions before i make a major purchase
and i want to make sure i'm getting my moneys worth.
First, what year, and engine? I run a supercharger and couldn't be happier. The main difference in my eyes is that s/c is a progressive boost and turbo hits the engine all at once. The bottom end of engine will last much longer if you go s/c. Also added HP is only about $130.00 to $200.00 for a different pulley
Yeah im all for the supercharger, love the power and scream of a twin screw. But turbos are cool too, and you dotn see many turbo'd mustangs on the road.

What year is it an sn95? I would say turbo system if you do it. Nothing big just some thing simple and efficient.
Or look into Procharger, I am pretty sure they make them for 3.8's i may be wrong. Not sure what is out for your year for roots or t/s style chargers.
Wish i could be more help but i would do a smaller turbo, just some thing to add a lil more kick in the pants just becareful your messing with fire now
generally speaking, turbos are better for street and road course. Blowers are better for drag racing. Although with new technology that line does get blurred a bit.
A turbo can reach max boost at fairly low rpm's, like 2,500-3,000. That gives you a lot more low end torque than a blower will. Be honest, how often will your engine see 6,000 rpm's?
A blower uses crank shaft horse power to run it. If you're cruising along at 2,000 rpm's, your boost will be low but it will still be sucking hp off the crank. A turbo uses very little hp to make boost. At low rpm cruising, you're not really making boost but you're not using an hp either.
A turbo will adjust for altitude. It will make 8 pounds of boost at sea level, and 8 pounds of boost at 10,000' without making any changes. This is the key reason I would use a turbo. I live at 6,400' ASL. But I frequently drive to lower altitudes. I don't want to worry about changing pulleys or using octane booster. When I drive to 11,000' over the mountain passes, I don't want to lose boost, either.
A blower really shines on the drag strip. At lower rpm's boost and power are both "low". That allows the car to hook up and go. As speed/rpm's increase so does boost and power. You can make a turbo work at the drag strip, but it's more difficult.
I'm considering two turbo systems, STS and Powerhouse. Both very differant, but with similar results.

Turbos are actually easier on the motor the superchargers. They use exhaust gas to spin the impellers. A supercharger use an belt to drive the impeller creating parasitic drag and make your motor work harder in all RPM rages, this is why you see more cars from the factory with turbos then you do with superchargers. A turbo is harder to tune properly and harder to install.
Best kits I have researched is HP Performance for a turbo, and ATI Pro charger D1SC for a supercharger.

Don't know much about other systems. Have a 76 mm single from Powerhouse. Car went to the track friday for first time since major rebuild. Only have 11 lb street tune (working on race tune at much higher boost). Didn't bring MTs and it was humid. Slowest run was 11.7 with 1.9 60 foot. Then car went 11.4 three times, once at 11.3 and fastest was 11.23. The Powerhouse turbo was smooth as silk. We think it will be a 10 second car on the street tune alone.

I agree on everything you said other then the drag racing point which is completly untrue. Some of the fastest if not the fastest cars in the NMRA are turbocharged. And by new technology you mean the last 15 years right? Check youtube and look for "Racin Jason", that guy (god rest his soul) was tearing up tracks with turbo power back in the early to mid 90's.
As for the v6, If you go turbo be real careful on the company you choose. Check and double check the company cause there are a lot of predators out there in the turbo business (like HP performance). Go to "turborides.com" and "theturboforums.com", also superchargersonline and read read read! Vortech/Paxton superchargers are very good products and they are very reliable. And they've been around for ever. Good luck with what ever you choose!
Turbo does wonders for me you dont see many ricers running suoerchargers do ya? Their answer to cubic inches is boost turbo charged boost. So ad boost to a engine and you will be pleased Trust me I am a doctor!LOL
i have a 03 cobra...first was a ported eaton w/nitrous..then cam the kenne bell and shortly after the nitrous made its way back on the car. last came the hellion 76mm turbo kit....by far my fav. the boost comes on later in the rpm range so its so much fastr on the street cause you can actually put the power to the ground....at a 40 mph roll forget about it the blowers dont have a chance. just takes a little bit of time getting used to driving a turbo car.

It was an honor to grow up with jason...... he was a great guy! He started it all for many well known racers today!! And its on honor to have Job, and chase for Turbo People as family. Job also had a kick ass red notch that never lost a race won 2 years in a row "Ya" NMRA wrote him out of the rule book!
I am going with a Pro Charger for my 06 GT with pulley upgrade. This is a centrifigal intercooled system. gives power on the mid to top RPM. May save a little on gas when cruising around town. The twin Screw is low end RPM. I would look at Whipple HO if you want the looks of a twin screw. As for Turbo there will be a lag because you re relying on exhaust (which you will have to change).
