Question Supercharger is next but which one ?? Input needed

Well I have made up my mind and I am getting a supercharger next ! I have the $$ put aside for it and now I just need help in picking which one to put on the stang. I am kinda leaning twards the Vortech but I am also considering the Procharger and last but not least I was told that I might want to also consider getting the Saleen blower for it ??? Can I please get input from you Mustang gurus out there as to which one I should get. I am having the Shaker Hood Scoop and the catback installed this weekend and I would like to have the supercharger ready to install by the following weekend. Ok please give me input here .....

Thanks.
Jeff B.

The Saleen is nice, but from a performance standpoint it is not the best.

Close match between Vortech and Procharger performance wise.

ATi has the advatage of the Intercooler included with the kit for almost the same price as the Vortech kit.

Vortech wins the installation side, lots easier and friendlier than ATI.

Ya I've heard ATI prochargers are very hard to install. But they are awesome superchargers. I like that fact that they are self contained SC's. So If the SC blows, it's not gonna contaminate the oil in your oil pan. They are also suppose to give more power for the same amount of boost. That was the supercharger I was leaning towards going with if I got one. The vortech's are also suppose to be really loud. I want it quiet.

All good answers... I have a 92, so I'm partial to the 5.0, but I started out with a Paxton SN-92, which was ball driven. I kept siezing bearings. They finally cam out with a NOVI-series, which kicks butt. Ihad laready bolted on an S-trim Vortech, which IS LOUD, but I like it, since I don't get as many imports pulling up next to me and revving any more.

As for the ATI, the setup is a little time consuming and it does include an intercooler, BUT... every time you have an intercooler, you have to consider that every 90-degree bend in the intercooler, you are going to lose about 1/2-pound of boost! Vortech did meet consumer demand and has an "SQ" series of blowers that stands for "Super Quiet."

Basically it all depends on what you want from your car and being supercharged...

If you want to drive it every day, and keep it somewhat streetable, the Saleen/Eaton/Motorsports blower found on the new 03 Cobras is intercooled and very easy to work with. It's not noisy at idle and fits under the hood and is pretty good for up to 9-lbs. of boost.

If you are looking for anything over 9-lbs. of boost, go with either Paxton or Vortech, as they are now one company, because both of them have been proven to whip up pretty good boost/horsepower numbers on the 4.6 motor.

One thing I would suggest before bolting in blower is upgrading your BRAKES! Get some BAER disc brakes so you can stop your Stang before adding more power!!!

My procharger was kinda hard to install. The hardest part was installing the intercooler. It was not real hard just took some time to get everything linned up right. The install directions aren't the best but anyone with common sense can figure it out.
