Default Oil leak from BBK crank pulley key notch

Hello everyone,
I'm a newbee to the site. Can someone help me out please? I have a 2002 mustang gt with a few bolt ons. I have oil leaking from BBK crank pulley key notch. The directions did not say to use silicone to seal the key notch. What kind of problems will I have if i leave it?

an oil leak that wont stop....... only way to fix it is remove the crank bolt and washer, add some RTV, let it set-up and re-install the bolt and washer....
