Default Turbo V6 vs. V8, I'm looking for opinions.

Hi ya'll.
I've found myself without a mustang (again) and I'm looking at building a new one. Ever since I bought my 01 turbo diesel, I've been craving that turbo whine, and I've found a LOT of nice turbo kits out there for mustangs of all shapes and sizes. However, picking up a 96-98 Cobra (my favorite newish stang body is 96-98) and then dropping five grand on the turbo, plus everything else that needs to be done on top of that is a bit beyond me at the moment, and I don't need a car with 600rwhp, because I'll end up in jail. So, I've been looking at the V6 turbo kits, and I'm thinking it might be a way to get me into a unique ride, with a less jail-likely 300-350 rwhp, (so the turbo sellers say) and my total cost would come in at many thousands under the Cobra.
If anyone has done this, or knows someone who has done this, I'd like some information on the 'fine print'.
What are the advantages/disadvantages of the V6 build-up?
Some help would be awesome,
Thanks
Rob

As long as you factor in the supporting mods to handle that much power it would be a great idea, your going to have to get a different rear end and i dont know much about the older mustangs, im learning about them myself because my gf just got a 99 v6 two weeks ago, but as for my year (2006) i was told im going to need new connecting rods and im waiting for some people to reply to my turbo thread so i know what else i might need but it seems that our rear ends are the weakest area. So basically just keep in mind that the price of the turbo is not all that needs to be factored in

If you don't plan on going much over 300 rwhp then a well built 7.5" should be able to handle it. I'd suggest talking to shine1stang or shinerstang (father & son) about a turbo build. Shine1's turboed 6 is quite impressive.

I say take the 3.8. If for some reason you do get that lead foot urge, there's nothing like the face of a well beaten GT owner by a V6..

We have a V6 and we plan on making it like a "sleeper" so people think that it's only a V6, and we will then have to show them different...lol.
So I'm sort of biased and say go with a V6 because it's more fun to play with

Well its really up to you what you want to do. A 7.5 can hold the power, but not as long as an 8.8. My father has been beating the crap out of my old built 7.5. A turbo build is pretty expensive, i got my kit used for 2500. I had my motor built, which was a pretty penny. It depends on what year v6 you get. A girl in louisville has a 03 v6 mustang with a turbo runnin 10psi. That car is putting down 300rwhp/320tq. The more boost you run on a stock motor the less life you have.
It is truely fun beating v8 with my 6. And im only at 3psi right now.
Good luck to ya
