Default someone please help me :)

alright i have a stock 2001 stang 3.8 liter, i really want to put a 5.0L instead of the 3.8 am i dont know how much this will cost or how much more horsepower i will gain. i dont know alot about engines or anything so if anyone replies try not to use really big words. haha, im just a beginner so if anyone could help that would be great.

Your car never came with a 5.0L option, the v8 that was available in your car was a 4.6L-the same engine in the current mustang. I don't know how hard it would be to install, though I'm sure someone has somewhere, but it sounds like quite a bit of modifications and part fabrication to me. Motor mounts would be an important concern. I'd just get a 4.6-it would be a cakewalk compared to the 5.0.

alright if i got the 4.6 then would that be easy to modify to become as fast as the 5.0

They are pretty similar to build with all the parts now available for the 4.6. They are comparible engines for building power. You will have a MUCH easier time with the 4.6 in your car.

alright cool i apreciate your help though and i have one more question. do you know approxamatley how much it would be to do all of that because i found the engine for around 1500 with the tranny, i wasnt sure if i would have to get a new tranny because my tranny is for a 3.8 or if i could get by with my old one. just let me know please

That sounds like a good deal if it's low mileage. I don't know if the v6 trans will work with the v8 in your bodystyle, your bodystyle/year isn't my speciallty. You'll want to do more research on that swap for stuff like brakes, suspension, exhaust, driveshaft, axle, etc. All that stuff might need or at least should be swapped out. There should be some threads on here about swapping a 3.8 for a 4.6.
