Default What gear for turbo application?

I've heard different opinions about what gear to use with a turbocharger. For those of you with a turbo, what gears do you have 3.31 3.55 3.73 3.90 4.10 ? Thanks!

Im supercharged, but i would go with 3.73. I think its the best all around gear to go with, i think its the perfect gear for f/i cars. Since your turbo ya might be safe with 3.90 or even 4.10, but ya might have a lot more traction issues, but even with 3.73 ya gonna have some wheel spin.

Thanks 04KenneBellGT, but I've seen so much speculation about this subject that I respectfully just want to know what the turbo guys are running. There are some different factors involved that have to be considered, and even though I have been racing for about 24 years, this is my first turbocharged vehicle. I'm not sure what gear to go with. If it were as "simple" as traction issues this wouldn't be a problem. The car isn't my daily driver, but I also don't want it to become "race only". I know a little about loading to get it to spool, but I've seen some guys running 4.10's and some with 3.31's. So where is the happy medium where the law of diminishing returns sets in (too much gear/not enough)? Will it launch good with 4.10's and still hit full boost in second gear? 'Just looking for some helpful insight to help me make my decision. I've been thinking about 3.90's to help load a little...and still get a good launch.

Sorry man I have just been really busy or I would have told you right away!

Since you have a Turbonetics I would run nothing higher than a 3:27, I am running a 2:73 with my AOD and its still Nasty! Turbos react to gears differently than Blowers do so I would run a 3:08 if you travel a lot and the 3:27 if you dont.

What PSI are you running? That can be a factor to if its above 10psi.

If you want to make 500hp without blowing anything I have some stuff you might want to consider. I know that the Turbonetics Kit can do it with the right Intercooler. The spearco just isnt efficiant enough to do that without Alcohol. So if you need anything just let me know, AFM Members get special pricing on everything we have!

If you need help with anything Just E-mail me or call me and I will help you with what ever you got. Just because you didnt get it from doesnt mean I wont help you make it faster!
