Hey, here's my issue, I installed my ZEX nitrous kit and the thing works awesome, but the other night I was drag racing and my pressure started dropping, so I flipped my heater on, let it sit 20 mins or so but the bottle didn't even start getting warm, so I thought the heater(thermostatically controlled automatically) crapped out. So I bought a new one, installed it tonight and tried it out, It immediately got warm, then the relay clicked and cooled off, then back on and off. It was cycling fairly quick and kinda erratically. On for maybe 15 seconds, off for sometimes a minute before it comes back on. After 1/2 hour, bottle not even close to feeling warm let alone hot, and the pressure 600psi(it's only about 65-70 degrees out right now) didn't even budge. I've checked my power and ground and they are good. I don't see how this can heat my bottle while I'm dragracing, the bottle gets cold just from use and I don't have 30+ minutes between rounds to get the pressure back up. I have a 10lbs bottle by the way. I did try putting the heater directly wired to a spare battery on my bench and layed the heater on the bench, turned it on and the thing got seriously hot, enough to almost burn my hand, then would kick off, and cycle back on but not as fast as when on the bottle. I'm just frustrated because I think I bought a new heater for nothing because my old one is now doing the same thing, I don't see how it will heat my bottle up, I was racing last week and it was over 80 degrees and only got 2 good runs in before my bottle pressure was down, (by the way, the bottle was full so I'm not running out of nitrous). Anyone run into this? Know what I'm talking about? Fixes? Thanks in advance!

I had a nitrous car for 4 years and never used a heater. I'm not as far north as you, but it get's pretty cold in the winter here in NJ, but this time of year you shouldn't have a problem with the temp. You didn't say where or in what position the bottle is mounted, what size kit, jets, etc, dry/wet, how long it's open, i.e. 1/4 mi, 1/8 mi, whole race, just top end. Maybe some details could help us figure out the problem. BTW, my kit was NOS, not ZEX, so maybe it's a problem with the bottle, the regulator, or even the guage. Are you having problems with the N2O delivery or is it just that the pressure reading is concerning you? And finally, just to r/o the blanket, maybe you could try a regular car seat heating pad that plugs into cig lighter / power point to see if that works better...
Thanks for your reply. I have found my problem, it was a bad connection in my power source to the heater. So i've fixed the problem. I have a wet kit and was using my 100 shot jets. I was definitly running out or nitrous at the top end of the track. 1/4 mile track spraying over 3k rpms starting in first gear so I'm spraying quite a bit. My bottle is in my truck front to back, and was cold to the touch after each run so I definitly need a heater because after 3 runs I was under 900 psi and not running well. It's been raining here for over 3 weeks straight so I haven't made it back to the track yet, but in the mean time I've added another bottle and heater just to make sure I don't run out in the late part of racing. Thanks again
