how "safe" would it be for me to put a supercharger on my 97gt???/ i got 92(gulp) THOUSAND miles...but it still runs like a top. the thing is.....i drive it all the time...i LOVE to drive my stang . would it be safe? i'm thinkin' of the ati procharger with intercooler.....can i just install that and not worry about anything else except for a new ignition? ( i think the ati comes with a fuel pump) please give me your honest opinion...thanx fellas

hmmmm not sure. id do a compression check on it. id personally do a rebuild first. ATI's like to boost. and when you get the bug an you bump it up those rings are going to go up too.

Definitely at least do a light bore, maye .020 and hone to clean up the cylinder walls and replace the rings and bearings and all your gaskets. Someone once told me and a my buddy that has a 97 Cobra with 65000 miles that his car would be fine on a blower without a rebuild. Personally I think he's out of his freakin mind. While you're in there doing a rebuild, if you have the cash, grab a cobra crankshaft and put in there. That'll give you the extra room on the top end to really use the blower. Nothing's cooler than hearing 6500 RPMs coming from a blown V8.
