Default Do you need to upgrade exhaust for Cold Air Intake?

I have been told that you need to upgrade your mufflers to install an aftermarket CAI. reason i was told was that since you are pushing more air into your car, your car needs to be able to push it out as well. anyone have any suggestions, opinions, or advice?

I'm no expert but i do know that that's not true. U probably already know that a cai is just a intake that takes in cooler air. Ironic hu? The reason being cold air is more dence and there for u can get more air in the cylinder which causes a biger combustion. So no u dont have to upgrade ur exhaust system cai is just an intake upgrade and has nothing to do with ur exhaust.

P.S. if u do upgrade ur exaust it will give u better engine performance reson why is another artical but good luck

Not it is not required, but it's a good start.

No you don't have to do them at the same time. The first thing I did when I got my GT/CS was replace the mufflers with Flowmaster supper-44's and no problems with my car at all .I added my BBK cold air intake, two months later.hope that helped! even if I am a week late.

You don't have to, but upgrading the exhaust won't hurt. The easier you can get air in and out the more hp you get.

Don't need to do it at the same time. But they definitely work very well as a team, as well as headers. You want to try to make all your mod's work as a team, maybe even a throttle body exhaust and intake would do well.
