Default Centrifugla vs. Roots

My roomate beat me by a half car in his eclipse the other day, he got a great launch and I spun all the way through 1st and part of the way through 2nd; thus I know that if I got a better start I can beat him, but he continues to rub it in my face and I want it to be back to the way I would end him when he wasn't squeezin 75. Therefore I am on the market for a supercharger. I dont have enough spare cash for a new kit, but I find that I can get a roush or SVO kit for around 1800 used and the centrifugal kits second hand for about 2500. My question is....Will I have to get a new intake manifold for my 98 if I get a roots type blower, and if so is that because my plastic one will melt under the heat or because the roots blowers don't match up to the stock intake manifolds, I figure that if I have to get a new intake manifold in addition to a roots type blower, it will just be easier to get a procharger or a vortech.

Any Input would be greatly apreciated,

Thanks

If i were you i think it would be better to get like a vortech or procharger...But a supercharger might not be right for you rite now, suspension, suspension, suspension...If you are have trouble launching right now think how bad it is goign to be with a supercharger. Sub frames, upper and lower control arms, and a new good set of tires will make your car much faster...

The SVO sc replaces your upper intake by the way. I've run both types of superchargers, an XB-1 on my 95 making 440+rwhp and now my Eaton roots sc on my 03 Cobra. 1998GT is right about the traction, especially when it comes to our lighter GT's. It was so hard to hook-up even with the high end centrifugal without the stock suspension. I later added some good tires and suspension components that helped out a lot. The 03 Cobra has instant torque like the SVO (if you go that route) so your traction woes may be a bit worse. At speed, like on the freeway, it's a different story. My 95 was a rocket between 4-6000rpm, downshift and off I went. So I guess my point is you should probably add what 1998GT and IMO, better brakes. That was one of my last mods with my 95 while it should have been my first. I added the Baer version of the Cobra brakes. The will definitely be a benefit with increased power after the supercharger. Good luck.

i think for your case a centerfugal would be best. as far as what the other guys said ive preached this a million times on here no matter how much money you throw at that engine a stocker with gears and a good set up suspension will smoke you off the line any time of the day. start there with the suspension then brakes then engine. a few mods on an engine are cool but its not going to do you jack if you cant put it to the ground.
