Shortly I'm installing a non-intercooled Vortech supercharger in my car. If it lives up to advertisement it should put me about even with a GT. But while that'll be fun it's not gonna be long before I'm trying to squeeze out more I'm thinking I'd like to change the pulley to the one the intercooled kit uses, which should increase boost from about 8 to about 10 PSI. Now I understand the major danger in increasing boost without an intercooler is possible detonation. I also know that risk is decreased with higher octane gas. Now while there are a few odd stations selling 96 OCT, the most commonly available is 91 so that's what I want to stick with. But I was just thinking about installing one of those Fitch catalysts which SHOULD increase octane to 93. Oh and I was planning to use a Brenspeed tune to run all this. Will this fly?

Not sure if that would fly or not. But if it was my car i would not even consider turning up the boost without an intercooler. Also how hot does it get where you live? A car running higher boost without an intercooler is really dangerous in hotter weather.

Go ahead and drop the extra coin on the intercooler now. Once you get addicted to boost, you'll not be satisfied with anything a non-intercooled setup will produce.

After buying the supercharger there aren't really any major purchases in my near future. If I do get an intercooler it's likely to be one of the universal ones off ebay.

Watch out for the super deals you get on stuff like that. If it's not a high quality piece that fits right, your super deal could end up costing you an engine rebuild if it lets go while your foot is on the firewall.

Ebay intercoolers are crap!!! Buy something worthwhile, you will be thanking yourself in the end. There are reasons why these companies charge big buck for their intercoolers.
Also, look into water meth injection. It works great as an octane booster, cools your intake charge, and it cleans everything out. I don't know how much power/boost the 4.0L can handle, but that's a start... My trunk mount universal kit ran me $323 shipped!! I have since upgraded what I started with by buying a controller to dial everything in.
