Default 1965 Mustang 289 Rebuild - Help Needed

Hi...I'm restoring a 1965 A code Fastback...(leaning towards a Shelby clone) Anyway, I was lucky enough to find an original Paxton Supercharger that I want to install on this car..
Question, what needs to be done to the 289 "A" code engine as far as ugrades to accomodate the Supercharger... I was hoping to get approximately 300+ hp just from the engine...will the stock crank be ok? Stock heads or aftermarket? Upgrade connecting rods/bolts and main caps? Cam specs....apparently the compression ratio needs to be between 8-9.1 ..... Any suggestions from those who have done this would be helpful...

thanks

Dan, you are on your own. The bottom end needs to be beefed up. So, fresh crank, Carillo rods, new cam bearing inserts, you know the drill is you were sounding the parts off.
Think old 100hp parts about to receive triple the power times detonation is you better get the fuel to air ratio correct or you eat parts is detonation can push the studs out of the block is heavier studs and all that is you and that air bubble about to blow up or blow away the car next to you is that balance.

300 from just the motor is a pretty good upgrade by itself (cam, headers, intake, etc.) but if you want to put that blower on it i would probably do a bottom end... think of it this way... if you want to do a shelby clone... no one will ever know you did something to the bottom end... and depending on the boost you want to push you could change the compression ratio to have a real screamer... (10:1ish for 5psi or 9:1 for like 10psi...)

Thanks for the comments... basically I need to upgrade all the internals!!! However I was told that the stock crank is nodular and should be OK.. I figured I would have to beef everything else up and install a good set of aftermarket heads as well...Has anyone else out there installed a supercharger on an upgraded 289 block? What would the cam specs be? Which pistons would work the best with setup?
