Gears are good, is it a 5 speed? I run 3.73's, very happy with them, not too much, not too little, very versitile as in they work with many different power levels.
Well you could bolt on a blower, not very original, but easy, makes power, keeps the car pretty drive-able since you could bolt it to a stock motor and still make 350+ HP.
I run a basic H/C/I set up. Usually doing heads cam and intake on a stock 5.0 bottom gets you anywhere btween 270-310 wheel horse. You get that awesome sound and get the chance to freshen up the motor at the same time.
Thing that sucks about 94-95 cars is not only the computer, but the lack of forged pistons, reduces the amount of boost you can safely run, and how long. But the best thing about the 5.0's is that they are cheap, doesn't cost much to completely rebuild them.
