Default cold weather and boost

being its so cold can i increase boost for the winter time.on a 20 degree day seems like i could turn boost up but would like someone who knows what they or talking about.i am looking at a intercooler for the summer but do you really need one here in kansas in the winter.

No. Colder air is more dense so i wouldnt increase boost at all since the fact that it is cold already is giving you a more dense air charge. Need to know a couple things though. like what system you have, what your engine has done to it to support boost, injector lbs, octane your running. Basically all i am saying is that if it is built for it then go for it. If you just threw a kit on it i wouldnt push my luck.

i have put forged pistons on a otherwise stock shortblock,stage 3tfscam twheads stage 3,r tfsintake also cnc stage 3,75 tb.,42inj,255pump,bbkreg set at 55,im running 9#boost on a v1 with anderson pipe with there meter for inj.here is the kicker stock tune.i have my timing at 10%base my btm is on 1 degree of retard for pound of boost,i have msa cap,rotor,wires and the msd ign/boost retard.what i was wanting to do was increase to 12-14of boost.i do have a fmu that im not using i need a 5-1 disc and was told not to use it with my 42 but i was thinking of putting that 5-1 disc and trying it out if i increase boost i also have a nx kit that i was thinking of spraying a 50 shot for cooling affect and extra kick kill 2 birds with one stone just dont want to kill my motor lol

I wouldn't increase any boost with out having it on a dyno or at least having a wideband to make sure your a/f is right. Another option besides using an intercooler or N2O is to use a water/methanol injection kit. You will be able to put more timing in the car with the cooler IAT and the meth will boost you octane to about 112-116.

thanks for your help dufkis.man your flying but why do you use stock cam i have a stack of low mile cams that i have replaced in me and my friends cars over the years teach me your secret with the fact 447 liftcam.i think i will try and bump timing 2 degrees tom. morning put some octane boost(cant hurt)

I just love going fast and proving you can go fast with a stock cam. It is all about your parts selection you need to plan out a combo on paper 1st and get components that work together so you can get the most power out of your set up. Plus having a great tuner helps out too.
