Default The best compression for nitrous

I'm in the process of building a forged block for my nitrous, but its more of a cya block for when something goes wrong. I was wondering what the best compression is for a nitrous application. I've one some searces and it seems everybody has different opinions, some say build it low like you would for a s/c, some say go high. Also which bore should I go with .20 or .30?

Nitrous will make power with either high or low compression. It is more forgiving than boost in high compression applications because of the buffering effects of the nitrogen in the combustion chamber.

That being said, tune, timing, and octane are always important. If you ever plan on running boost, you'll probably want to keep the compression low. If you plan on being a NA/Nitrous motor, that extra compression will certainly make things more interesting off the bottle. It really just depends on your planned application.

So your saying I should run higher compression if I never have plans to run a s/c. Will I make more power N/A with higher compression?

If you don't plan on supercharging, you will benefit from higher compression with more hp/tq N/A. That being said, too much of anything isn't always right, you want a good balance of compression vs the tune you'd like to run. 10 - 10.5:1 compression is safe on pump gas with a proper tune and 93 octane.

If you like running regular or mid-grade, you'll have to keep the compression closer to 9.0:1 or be prepared to retard the timing. (You obviously CANNOT run nitrous on 87 octane, at least not unless you pull so much timing that it barely runs.)

Personally I'd build a 10.0:1 motor and spray lots of nitrous.
