Yo Rob,
I haven't posted lately, but I would like to remind everyone that the amount of nitrous should take into account both the engine's capability of running 250+ hp and
tranny; meaning that many mods have been done to run that much nitrous. In my case, the lowest jetting is 250, and my switch to E85 required upgrading the solenoids to handle up a 600 hp shot. However, this setup was not meant to be used on the street, because I can carry the front wheels in both first and second gear without nitrous. My plan was to run this combo at Pinks-all-out, but unfortunately there are no events that are schedule to come to Colorado in the near future.
One other note for those planning on running 250+ hp must consider what torque that the
tranny can hold above 250+ hp and its related torque. In my case, there is no need to hit the nitrous switch until I'm in third gear, and talking with the Tremec experts could not handle that much hp off the line. So, I will only raise the nitrous shot to deliver 300 hp, until I can afford the new streetable Lenco ST1200
tranny and wheelie bars, along with a full roll cage and parachute. I'm not sure that I can get away with a parachute system on the street, but law-enforcement will usually overlook wheelie bars. In any case, I've never needed to hit the nitrous switch, but eventually I will come up against a Hayabusa or the like and that means we will need to take it to the track.
On another note, I've tried once to get into Pinks All Out when it was in Denver, but even with my fairly fast computer, I wasn't able to make the cut within less than 2 seconds that it took me to press the enter key. I'm hoping that the show will return again, but don't look for me to be in the final cut, because there aren't that many emission legal street cars that can run in the eight second range.
