best nitrous kit and safe shot for carbed 347 stroker
I'm in the process of building a 347 stroker. It will have forged pistons and a 10:1 comp. intake manifold is a edelbrock torker 289 with an edel 600 cfm carb..
Now, my question is, which nitrous kit and what hp shot would be safe??
10:1 is a little bit high for nitrous . They like low compression and close to max tolerances on the ring gap . Also with a bigger shot of nitrous your cam heads and exhaust should maximize the exhaust . with nitrous the intake side of things is not as important as the exhaust . I would go with 9:1 compression and a 150 shot .If you have a strong bottom end and a wet nitrous kit , it will handle it .

I think that you are thinking of superchargers. Compresion is not realy a factor(it plays a part though). What matters the most is the quality of the block and rotating assemby.
You could probably get away with a +150 wet shot easy. It will also depend on you cam., heads and drive line. More torque=broken stock part

Looks like the Mad Max interseptor and weighs about 1800lbs w/o motor (450hp 351w installed to move the car around)

I heard that that new nitrous brand is really look. They look pretty good too. Called.. Cry02 (Cryogenic Intake System)
Description:
The Cry02 system super cools the intake air and fuel charge by itilizing the cryogenic propperties of c02. The system consists of Tank/Install kid, Cryogenic air intake, cryogensic Fuel bair and intercooler sprayer. Each component sold sperarately can be used in any combination.
I know that system. It's an intercooler. Instead of using ice/water it uses co2 and sprays it directly on the intercooler radiator. I like the idea. It looks like it would weigh less than the ice/water cooler used in racing.

Not too worried aabout the intake or carb. The question that needs to be asked is how will the motor be put together. Are you going to be using a Nitrous cam? How is the bottom end put together? Rods? Head bolts or studs?
You need to decide if the motor will see nitrous all the time or just sometimes. When I built my 347, I made it clear that the motor would see nitrous and all the parts were spec'd for that load.
I own and race a 65 Mustang, 347 stroker, C4, 4.56 gears. With a 150 shot it went 9.74 @ 137 MPH. Compression is 12.5/1. The key here is running the right fuel. At that CR, you need a fairly high octane fuel. I run a VP Racing Fuels C16. 117 motor octane.

Where do you get that from?

Go to www.vpracingfuels.com and find the nearest dealer. I buy it in 55 gallon drums to save a few $. Even at that quantity it runs $8.06 per gallon. I should also mention that the www.wilsonmanifolds.com plate system is about the best out there. SS spray bars with 88 holes aimed directly into the runners. With a small block Ford this is a key element. Number one always wants to go lean because of the runner lenght.

Oh, and Mad Max...with all those goodies it runs what? High 8's?
