Default To many miles for a supercharger?

Hey I was just wondering if anyone could tell me if it would be a good idea to install a bolt on supercharger considering my completely stock 95' GT auto has 93000 miles or 150000 kms. If not could you tell me what i would have to do to get my stang prepared for such an upgrade please? Also I would like to know what other mods i would have to do to get anywhere from 380-400 rwhp. I have about 5000 to spend.

P.S. also if anyone could tell me where i can buy and what brand of supercharger/type i should buy.

P.P.S. The previous owner pretty much babied this thing and ive never pushed it that hard myself eaither, so i would consider it to be in very good condition.

There's a lot of information on the internet concerning both of your questions. The June 2008 issue of Muscle Mustangs and FF has a section that compares all the different type of FI S/C. Also the May 2009 issue of Muscle Mustang has a section that talks about crate engines and rebuild components. I found them very helpful. Good luck

Before adding any power adder, make sure you do a rebuild. And when doing a rebuild and adding a power adder, Make sure you use quality forged parts especially the bottom-end. Yeah your rotating assembly, then you won't have any worries. ARP fasteners is a must, and if you want to keep those heads attatched to your block make sure you use ARP STUDS. I've seen many heads lift in the rear portion of the head, using head bolts instead of studs. When it comes to horsepower, I take that very serious. That avitar to your left 1970 BOSS, 429SCJ with an F-2 Pro Charger, Viper 6 speed Currie 9" W/4.30 gear and 35 spline axles too many mods to list, but fuel injected with 60lb. matched injectors 780rwhp, and 820rwtq. detuned for better street manners. It's a very sick ride, as my wife would say but what a rush, Mike. SCT Tuner.

take it to some one and have a leak down check done on it. if it is good and you are not using any great amount of oil go for it. the only real thing I don't like is the fact that it has hyperutectic pistons they don't take to kind to detonation so be careful with that. and for that main reason you really should get it tuned. or you can do like said and get it rebuilt with some good forged pistons and be done with it. I have put S/C on a few engine's with over 100,000 miles and had no problems at all as a matter of fact I just finished one up. as far as running Forged crank and rods unless you are looking to make over the 500 hp mark that stock stuff will work fine and will out last the stock block 99% of the time. been there did that a few times with a few cars. just keep the tune safe and run good gas. and don't run the piss out of it every where you go it will last. Our stock short block all but the pistons and the rod bolts lasted 4 or so years and I ran the **** out of it all the time on the street and track it started at 13s and died at 10.99 lol. I got another customer running around right now with a all stock short block but the pistons. that has been running for 2 years now. it runs 11.00 and he just started driving it everyday to work 35 miles 1 way about a month ago. the only tune on it is what I could do with a timing light and a wrench and the building of it and picking the right parts and he is pushing 14psi. on it. I would not be scared of it. But thats just me what do I know. LOL...

yes i agree with the statement above i have a 95 with with 125000 miles .i sprayed a 150 shot and motor loved it no problems.but when i put sc,tfs tw heads(stage 3)tfs stage 3,R upper and lower.left lower end stock within 2 weekes i burnt # 5 piston soi replaced with cheap trw forged pistons, stock rods, crank.all i did was hone all 8 holes to remove claze.new gaskets.i think i had like 350 in rebuild.+pistons and sice then i have run 10 pounds boost with 50 shot nitrous no problems(just head gasket when i put 100 hp pill)the rods and crank should hold power untill block splits.providing its build correctly.

after an engine rebuild there are 3 superchargers, take your pick.I have a procharger and it makes 411 rwhp.I'm in the process of doing more things to my car so hopefully I can get it up over 500,thats what I'm shooting for.

I tried it and but a piston in 2 weeks.my problem was poor tuning.do a cheap rebuild new rings, bearings forged pistons get a good tune and let it rip.since my cheap rebuild i have had a year of fun.make shure your fuel system is upgraded along with ign.
