Default Turbo trim help

I want to upgrade my 65 Mustang with a fuel injected 302 and a turbocharger. I ran my combo though the calculator on this site and came up with the following:

MAKE TYPE COMPRESSOR TRIM TURBINE TRIM TURBINE HSG A/R
Garrett TO4 V1 P 1.1400000000000001

I have found a source here in Ohio that has used T04 turbos, but they do not understand the trim data. Can someone help me with this so that I may clearly communicate the information needed. A Garrett part number for this turbo would also probably be of
immense
help.

I will be upgrading the pistons in the bottom end, revamping the fuel injection (larger MAF and injectors), intake, etc.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Scott

That trim data doesn't seem to correlate with garretts current product listing. A hotside A/R that high would take forever to spool anyway. You'd be better looking for something in the 60-80 range on the hotside A/R for a street car.

I'd run the numbers based on Garretts formulas and go from there:

After reading though the site I see your point; the A/R the calculator spit out is only good for high-rpm power.

The one problem I am running into with using the Garrett site is that it only gives current maps, not something I could use to find a used turbo. I cannot afford to spend $2k on the turbo, hence why I was looking at a used or rebuilt unit.

That being said, I will run some more numbers and see if I can come up with a trim
measurement
that the reseller can understand (barring finding a part number of a turbo that will work). I do think you are right, something in the 60-80 A/R range would probably work much better on a street car.

Thank you for your help!

If you are looking for a good cheap turbo look at the MasterPower t70 more then enough for your street car makes good power and gives you some room to grow and they are cheap and have a good survival rate. check out BG turbos he sells them

Will that model work with a single turbo setup? I really want to go single in stead of dual turbos. Looking to make around 400hp at the rear wheels or a little more, probably around 440-450hp at the crank. Looking at AFR heads for this setup as well to take advantage of some boost, but looks like I may have to go with better rods to handle the extra power.

yes it will work very well as a single and will make more HP then you are wanting so keep the boost down.and they spool good. they make enough HP to waste your stock block if you want so you even have room to grow.
