Turbos are made for all engines and I like to think especially for mustangs
My kit was $4000 but a more accurate statement is that S/C and turbo kits are roughly equal in price per power.
Any turbo will blow easily if not properly matched and tuned to the engine; however they become very reliable when done properly.
Turbo lag will depend on the size of the turbo and whether or not you're running one, two or sequential turbos. Even so, turbos will be at full boost much sooner then a S/C will be
I can't offer any technical expertise on the matter, but when I was 18, I got to ride in a California Highway Patrol twin turbo Mustang. It's something I'll never forget. 7-up your in Schaumburg ? I'm in C-Ville , so when I get ready to throw those twin turbos in my Vert I'll have to look you up.
talons are 4 cyclinders, is it even possible to supercharge a 4 cyclinder? i dont know about that. i would suppose. but why would you want to? anyway, your example is weak. the new 03 cobra is supercharged boys , not turbocharged. not to mention saleen's and roush's..shinoda boss. but i suppose steve saleen and jack roush should of used turbo's, they dont know jack about cars as it turns out.....?? piece.
scoin tc can come with a super charger as well as many gm vehicals. I belive its a matter of personal prefernce.
well guys all i got to say is i have a 408 windsor with twin t3/t4's runnin 14 psi in an 88 tubbed ranger.....you supercharger guys wanna race well then come find me we'll do a final showdown on the pavement instead on a computer where anybody can talk ****......
Uuuum...Does anyone here know anything about the 05' twin turbo kit made by STS (Squires Turbo Systems), which are remotely mounted to the rear of the stang supposedly to solve any heating issues? And is STS a good co. to get turbos from? Just curious.
an intercooled twin screw supercharger Kenne Bell or Whipple done correctly are hard to beat when dynoed correctly for price, ease of fitment and HP potential. I don't know but everytime I hear Turbo I immediately think Ricer!!!
I take a supercharger over turbo any day, it's more powerful, and it says american muscle, besides i've never seen a ricer that was supercharged, only turbo

You have it backwards, turbos make more power and they can make more power at the same boost levels.
Btw, you guys do realize this thread is from 02, right?
where could i pick up a twin turbo kit for a 2004 v6 3.9Ltr mustang does anyone know?

i love the spooling sound of turbos and then the blow off valve when shifting gears its just amazing to me dont get me wrong superchargers are awesome its just i have a thing for turbos even tho i have only driven american cars i have major respect for anything turbocharged and supercharged but i am also thinking of going the natualy asperatied route just because the sence of pride knowing its all motor and no forced induction is just incredible to me

Well, I have a Roots style blower on my Yamaha V-6 powered offroad car and had a turbo on my Toyota 4 banger offroad car, so I think I can talk the talk since I am walking the walk.
The Roots gives me instant power right off the line. With 8 pounds of boost my 2400 pound rail did a 12.48 at 110 mph in the quarter mile. The positive displacement blower is so much better for duning because it gives you response like a big block does. But...Turbos give you more power per pound of boost. A lot of the serious Mustang Cobra drivers are dumping their Roots and KB blowers for twin turbos and big single turbos.
You can see my buggy, called The Other Woman" in action at my website. Dooley Motor Sports
Click on movies and browse around, but give the videos time to load.
Gee! I'm contemplating a power adder on my 06 Steeda Q-350 and still as lost as ever. What about cost, isn't the supercharger quite a bit more exspensive? My car is a garage queen waiting for shows this spring. Just the occasional Sunday drive.
None of this matters. Who cares which is more reliable....when what you should really concern yourself with is this: which will last longer: the turbo/blower, or your bottom end.
We need to address this in terms of the STOCK bottom end.
How many people buy a blower/turbo..and then spend any money on pistons, rings etc??
Answer: very very few. We're too busy ripping up and down the street to bother thinking about 15,000 miles later.
So: which will mess my pistons and crank up less?
Answer: probably a turbo.
Why?
Because I can get more power from the turbo on lower boost. Lower boost = less stress.
Just my 0.2
PS I think there is a strong geographical divide: in Europe, only Jaguar and Mercedes use the Supercharger in their upper-model vehicles. Them and Lotus, but Lotus is more of a specialist brand.
The Japs...are almost all turbo. Toyota, Nissan, Soo-bar-oo and Mitsu...= turbos.
Renault, Ford UK, SEAT, VW, FIAT, Ferrari, Porsche have all used turbos. Ford UK's brand new Focus ST, and VW's brand new GTi,..both use turbos. Both are also very expensive, which suggests that significant effort has been put into the rest of the engine too.

A quick look thru turbo/blower prices on e-bay shows blowers as dear as $5000 and turbos as low as $1000
Of course thats only half the story.
You still have to install, get new tubing, piping, hook up the ECU.
My own plan was to buy a car in the USA, and then approach a garage in the States and ask their opinion. I wouldn't attempt to install a god-damned thing myself. I'm quite sure there are tuners who can do the whole kit and kaboodle for me in one fell swoop.
Of course......the tuner might not be able to make their mind up as to which is the better system, the turbo or the blower. All I can say is that Porsche, Ferrari, VW, Ford UK- the comp I will be facing on European streets...have all gone with the whirlygig. So will I.
holy crap ive been gone for a few years and this thread is still alive. this was started when stone cold, 7-up and me first signed up. wow talking about lifsupport.
